Central Control Laboratory of the

                                          PJSC Kiev Central Design Bureau of Valves (KCDBV)

Central control laboratory is an integral part of PJSC KCDBV and provides incoming and in-process inspection of the direct and auxiliary materials, welding joints, deposition welding, coverage and others designed for all company’s products and is used in different industries such as nuclear and thermal power energy, shipbuilding, space and aviation, public utility industry.

All control testing of the physical and mechanical, chemical and technological material characteristics are conducted in accordance with the normative-technical documentation requirements.

CCL has at its disposal modern equipment, measurement tools, standard patterns, check gauge, auxiliary equipment that helps in conducting tests and measurements by destructive and non-destructive control methods. All test equipment and measurement tools undergo periodic calibration by the state standardization institutes of Ukraine, technical verification and service, that insures correctness, stability and reproductability of the test and measurement results.

Соntrol and testing are conducted by the following destructive and non-destructive methods:

• Chemical analysis

• XRF –Analysis

• Stretching analysis at the normal and high temperature

• Impulse bending test

• Critical metal frailty temperature identification

• Static bending test

• Non-metal inclusions content control

• Macrostructure control of the main metal, welding joints, deposition welding and coatings

• Hardness control

• Micro hardness control

• Control of the predisposition absence of the austenitic corrosion-resistant steels to the intergranular corrosion

• Radiographic control

• Ultrasonic control

• Lliquid-penetrant inspection

• Control of the ferritic phase content

Besides that Central Control Laboratory carries out:

• Identification of the metal type (steel, cast iron, nonferrous metals)

• Identification of the coating depth and hardness

• Analysis and correction of the galvanic baths

• Heat treatment of the steels, cast iron, alloys

• Identification of the material’s non-metal inclusions

• Identification of the hairline, macro and micro cracks, clocks and other defects.

CCL is staffed with highly trained personnel who possess technical expertise, took special theoretical and practical training course in testing and high quality testing performance.

Each measurement and testing method is conducted according to the techniques and instructions developed at the Central Control Laboratory in compliance with the normative-technical documentation requirements (GOST, OST, methodological materials and others).

Modern equipment, normative-technical and control-production documentation data base, qualified personnel let Central Control Laboratory of the KCDBV be certified by the Chief Industrial Certification Commission of the Nuclear Power Objects of Ukraine for the right to perform material control of the products designed to operate at the NPPs’ equipment. In addition, quality control system at the CCL as a part of PJSC KCDBV was certified by the International Certification Bureau “VERITAS” for the ISO 9001 requirements compliance.
