Since February 2009 PJSC KCDBV as a part of Consortium which includes such companies as TECNOATOM S.A.( Madrid, Spain), LLC “NIICA” and Strength Problem Institute has taken an active part in carrying out the European Commission Project TACIS U2.01/05.
The theme of the project is “Development of strategy and methodologies for inspection and preventive maintenance of safety valves of the Ukrainian NPP’s”.
The goal of the project is to develop the concepts and methods of the preventative maintenance and periodic control of the safety valves at the Ukrainian NPP’s. The project scope also includes optimization of monitoring, analysis of the diagnostic devices and appliances, as well as software programs for recording test results, control, maintenance and data base creation which will store recorded information.
Specific project goals go as follows:
- Develop preventative maintenance strategy, including periodic control of the safety valves at the Ukrainian NPP’s;
- Increase overall block’s safety during supervision, control and maintenance of the safety valves;
- Further increase reliability of the safety valves;
- Develop more advanced diagnostic methods for preventative maintenance;
- Offer respective data for maintenance, continuous control while at the operation and condition monitoring, principles and computer software;
- Develop necessary methods to assess “well-being” of the safety valves.
- Identify following maintenance, supervision, control activities considering the latest world experience in the safety valves control and maintenance;
- Increase the accuracy of the safety valves adjustment and testing based on the newly developed methodologies;
- Study the possibility of the safety valves testing, control and maintenance without shutdown and disassembling of the mechanic equipment, depending on the type of equipment, appliances and safety valves;
- Study the possibility of the safety valves testing, control and maintenance at the working equipment depending on the type of equipment, appliances and safety valves;
- Minimize the radiation doze that affects the personnel.
To achieve the goals of the Project the following tasks should be accomplished:
- Task1: Detailed plan of the Project fulfillment
- Task2: Overlook and studies of the current international practices, approaches and documents as well as situation in Ukraine
- Task 3: Methodology development for testing, control, maintenance and supervision
- Task 4: Recommendation development for the selection of devices, diagnostic equipment and identification of the safety valves parameters that should be registered
- Task 5: Implementation of the developed methodologies and approaches at the Zaporizhska NPP
- Task 6: Training course in selected testing, control, supervision and maintenance methodologies which should to be implemented at the Ukrainian NPPs.
Four tasks have been currently accomplished; special technical reports of the results were prepared and approved by the beneficiary and European Commission. 15 meetings were held for the coordination of the Project fulfillment and discussion of its results together with the Consortium members, the beneficiary - NNEGC “Energoatom” and Ukrainian NPPs, joint research center EK-JRC and Joint Agency for support of the TACIS projects in Ukraine- JSO.
